I had quite a pleasant surprise out at the salt flats tonight. I'd been planning for a while to drive out there for sunset tonight, but I was a bit disappointed when I left the house because there really weren't any clouds out. By the time we got to the area we were going to shoot, it looked like there were too many clouds to get a decent sunset, but they thinned out just enough right in time to give us this colorful show. I've never seen these salt ridges out at Bonneville before, so that was another pleasant surprise to have a bit of a Badwater-esque feel.
I love the ridges in the foreground, and the way the foreground detail is balanced with the texture in the clouds.
Turned out great Chris, excellent foreground to compliment that sky, glad the clouds turned out for you. We should get to AI this week sometime after work.
Nice sunset color and the diminishing size of the polygons give it the depth. Nice shot!
Every time I visit your gallery I find something stunning like this, you got the goods!
Very cool. At first I thought it was ice.
Woah...it's like the aftermath of an ending.
So amazing to see nature produce such a beautiful site.
beautiful. it feels empty but in a good way
You never really know what will happen until the very last moments of sunset. Awesome capture Chris!
The pattern in the ground... it sometimes makes me wonder if we're all standing on some giant turtle shell, swimming through space.
Love the subtle colors and great textures. Looks like it needs a slight CW rotation from the horizon line. So vast and desolate.
